NPU gets the Success in the Finals of 2014 National English Contest for College Students

From August 1 to August 6, the finals of 2014 National English Contest for College Students (NECCS) was held in Northwestern University in Shenyang. During the 5-day contest, Peng Yifei in the grade of 2013 from School of Power and Energy won the honors for NPU with his outstanding performance.

On August 3, 60 speakers from the semi-finals of the 15th National English Speech Competition for College Students were selected for the finals, among which there were 12 ones from Shaanxi Province. Peng Yifei from the Class 07031301, as one of the first ten speakers in the finals, won the first prize.

The impromptu debating finals of the 15th NESC was held on August 5. As the representative of Shanghai team, Peng Yifei, with the 30-minute preparation after getting the debating topic, won the first prize of the 15th NESC and became the one of 15 first prize winners. In impromptu debating, around one hundred debaters from 400 ones competed fiercely for the honor of eight best national debaters. Peng Yifei was awarded “the Best Debater” for his fluent oral expression and quick-minded reaction.
