On the morning of December 16, the employment ceremony for Professor Luo Xiaoyu from University of Glasgow as "Chair Professor" was held in International Conference Center. The vice-president of NPU Wang Runxiao and the dean of School of Science Zhang Weihong attended the ceremony, in which Mr. Zhang introduced Prof. Luo’s academic background briefly and Mr. Wang issued the employment letter with the school badge for her.
After affirming her academic achievements, the vice-president Wang Ruixiao expressed the world recogonization to her for her academic achievements in the field of mathematics and international influence, and his welcome for her joining in NPU. He wished a cooperation with her to drive the development of related disciplines in NPU and to create more opportunities of communications and scientific research cooperation between the teachers and students in NPU and the ones in foreign universities.
At the ceremony, Prof. Luo extended her willingness to be the Chair Professor. She would plan to go deep into the cooperation with School of Science in the research on computational biomechanics, to make the recognized achievements at home and abroad with the joint efforts.
The Introduction to Professor Luo Xiaoyu
Born in February 1960 in Britain, Luo Xiaoyu nowadays is a professor in School of Mathematics and Statistics in University of Glasgow, the academician of Edinburgh Royal Academy, the member of the Institution of British Mechanical Engineers, the member of the Fund Association of British Engineering Physics, the dean of CMALS and one of the founders of Glasgow Heart Research Center at the University of Glasgow. She won the Global Award of British Royal Academy of Engineering in 2007 and became the first female professor of applied mathematics in School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow in 2008.
