On the afternoon of September 24th, a delegation led by President Ed Brinksma of University of Twente Netherland came to visit NPU. President Wang Jingsong met them and jointly signed three cooperation agreements with President Brinksma, including the agreement on the Joint Training of Graduate Students, which would provide more opportunities to study abroad for both the graduate students and doctoral students of NPU, and which would further propel the implementation of the strategy of education internationalization of NPU.
President Wang extended warm welcome to President Brinksma, and then he said that the cooperation experience of nearly two decades between the two sides in talent cultivation and the exchange in scientific research between the two schools had become a new impetus for further deepening their cooperation and broadening their cooperation scope. He wished that more students from Twente University could come here for exchange study, and that the cooperation in scientific research and between the teachers of the two schools could be enhanced.
President Brinksma expressed thanks for President Wang’s warm reception. Then, he spoke highly of the quality of NPU’s talent cultivation. The Micro-nano Laboratory and College students’ Innovation Center of NPU impressed him a lot. He was pleased that the two sides could achieve a fruitful cooperation.
NPU and Twente University have started the joint training program of doctoral students since 1997. In October of 2010, 22 department leaders of NPU went to Twente for a study of three weeks to have an in-depth learning of their administration mode and their philosophy of school running, in the meanwhile, they had also formed a friendship with Twente University teachers. The delegation of Twente has had extensive talks with NPU in electronic information, computer science and mathematics, reaching consensus on deepening their cooperation in the above fields.
